OGDENSBURG -- Keith “Steve” Hamilton, age 75, of Ogdensburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Lee LaVigne; his son, Alan LaVigne of Seattle, WA; five daughters: Lynn (Brian) Ward of British Columbia, Beth (Ron) Clouthier of Liverpool, Amy (Michael) Hunt of Carthage, Michelle LaVigne and her companion Dan Olmstead of Ogdensburg, and Emily (Chad) Norton of Baldwinsville. Steve also leaves behind 11 cherished grandchildren, Sara, Courtney, Melissa, Cade, Kelsey, Shae, Aaron, Shannon, Gavin, Aidan and Owen and two beloved great-grandchildren, Avery and Beau.
He is also survived by his brothers, Wayne Hamilton of Heuvelton, Larry (Lillian) Hamilton, John (Robin) Hamilton, and Michael (Lynn) Hamilton, all of Ogdensburg; sisters, Sherry Dominie of Ogdensburg, Vicky (Ed) Przybylek of Greece, NY and Susie (Rick) Pirie of Ogdensburg; and step-brothers, Roger (Sue) Raven and Rich Raven, both of Ogdensburg. He is fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Steve was born on September 29, 1949, in Ogdensburg, the son of the late Vernon and Irene (Amo) Hamilton. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and went on to serve honorably in both the United States Air Force and Army until his discharge in 1971.
Throughout his working years, Steve was employed by George Hall, various independent contractors, and later retired from Lowe’s in 2013.
A man of many interests, Steve found joy in feeding squirrels and chipmunks, gardening, hunting, golfing, and doing yardwork. He had a special love for his dogs and treasured every moment spent with his family.
Memorial contributions in Steve’s name may be made to the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center, honoring the care and compassion he received. Condolences and fond memories can also be shared online at www.foxandmurrayfuneralhome.com. A private Celebration of Life will be held with his family.
