John S. Perrine Jr., 88, Massena

MASSENA – John S. Perrine, Jr., 88, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 16, 2025.

Born on October 12, 1936, in Cranbury, NY, to the late John S. Sr. and Ethel (Coward) Perrine. John proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1960 serving on the USS Bon Homme Richard. John relocated to the North Country in 1974, where he started work at Alcoa, and previously at IBM. He went on to work as a skilled tool and die maker at General Motors until his retirement in 2002.

John was a devoted family man and community member. He married the love of his life, Genevieve Cotting on February 1, 1958, and they shared 60 wonderful years together until her passing on November 30, 2018.

John is survived by his sons: Gary (Vera), Lake Kiowa TX; Jeff (Vicki), Madrid, NY and Scott (Kathy), Massena, NY his beloved grandchildren: Chelsea (Josh) Hough, Brandon (Meghan) Perrine, Jordan (Kaleb) Fuller, Hunter Perrine, Gavin Perrine, and Lydia Perrine; and great-grandchildren: Brecken Hough, Saylor Hough, Lucy Perrine, and Sadie Perrine along with several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son Charles “Chuck” Perrine and his brothers, Robert and Lawrence Perrine and a sister, Connie Ortiz.

John was a lifetime member of the Hightstown Elks Lodge No. 1955 in East Windsor, NJ, a proud member of AmVets Post No. 4, a communicant of St. Mary's Church, and an active member of UAW Local No. 465. He also served as a dedicated Scout Master for over 20 years for the Boy Scouts of America and positively influencing generations of young men in his community.

At John’s request, calling hours, funeral services, and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Memorial Contributions and donations in John’s memory can be made to St. Mary’s Cemetery in Waddington, NY for perpetual care.
