John P. St. Thomas, 68, Massena

MASSENA – John P. St. Thomas, 68, of Cecil Ave, unexpectedly passed away Wednesday morning, September 25, 2024 at Massena Hospital.

John was born in Massena on March 1, 1956, the son of the late Raymond and Anna (Amo) St. Thomas. He attended Massena Schools, graduating in 1975. Following his high school graduation, he entered the US Navy, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1979. On November 7, 1981, he married Cynthia A. Laurion at the Church of the Sacred Heart.

After returning home from the Navy, John started his career with the Seaway Development Corporation, where he retired in 2011 as a Lock and Dam Operator. John was a quiet man who enjoyed time with family and friends, a good card game, riding his Harley, and walking his baby dog.

John is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; his son, John P. St. Thomas, Jr. (Megan Jones) of Massena; his chosen daughter, Stacey Ryan of Massena; his grandsons, Kai and Jacob St. Thomas; his former daughter-in-law, Kathryn Severson of Idaho; his sister, Susie St. Thomas of Louisville; his brother, Ray St. Thomas, Jr. of Massena; his wife’s siblings, Diane (Gayle) Smith, Timothy Laurion, Linda (Mark) Ryan, and Peggy (Tom) Feickert; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Ed St. Thomas; and a sister-in-law, Mary Laurion.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, however there will be no calling hours. John’s family will honor and celebrate his life privately.
