Slideshow: History alive in Madrid

Posted

MADRID — History came alive for students during a school field trip Friday, June 13.

Norwood-Norfolk Central School students learned about life during the Civil War at Fort Tribute, a replica of a Civil War fort added to the museum five years ago.

Re-enactors showed weapons, machinery, and hospitals similar to what was used in Civil War battles.

The field trip was organized by Liam Hubbard, a Potsdam tenth grader who is a Civil War re-enactor himself.

“I became involved in reenacting through a friend, but decided that this would be a very fun project to do for my 20 time. which is similar to a capstone project but for sophomores and juniors,” said Hubbard.
