GOUVERNEUR—A traffic stop in the village of Gouverneur Wednesday turned up over two ounces of methamphetamine in addition to fentanyl and suboxone, State Police say.
Joshua W. Quintana, 31, of Calcium, was charged July 2 with one count second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and one count criminally using drug paraphernalia, State Police say.
According to State Police, Heather L. Soluri, 43, of Watertown, was also charged with one count second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and one count criminally using drug paraphernalia.
State Police report that at about 11:39 p.m. July 1, Troopers conducted a traffic stop for a turn signal violation in the town of Gouverneur.
Troopers requested a St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office K9 to respond and upon arrival and free air sniff, a positive alert for the presence of narcotics was reportedly made.
A search of the vehicle revealed more than two ounces of methamphetamine in addition to fentanyl and suboxone in the vehicle. A scale, unused packaging, glassine envelopes, and small plastic bags containing methamphetamine were also located.
Both Quintana and Soluri were placed in custody and transported to the State Police station in Gouverneur for processing.
Both defendants were arraigned in Gouverneur Town Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail.
