POTSDAM — The Craft, Food & Wine Holiday Market will be held on Saturday, December 7, and Sunday, December 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at SUNY Potsdam’s Maxcy Hall, 5 Tupper Lake Drive.
“This is an annual event that the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce has put on for many years to bring together a one-stop local shopping experience,” said STLC Chamber Tourism & Events Manager, Kathryn Puleo “We are in the heart of Small Business Season right now, and this market offers shoppers the perfect opportunity to spend their dollars locally and purchase one-of-a-kind gifts.”
The market is fully packed this year with more than 120 booth sites featuring local and regional vendors selling everything from handmade soaps, quilts, woodwork, ceramics, and self-published books, to meats, baked goods, wines, and spirits. “It’s quite an eclectic and unique group of north country producers,” Puleo said.
“For us, this is an opportunity to encourage shopping local,” Puleo said, “but also to provide a much-needed marketing and sales opportunity for small businesses that make handmade and value-added products, meaning all the vendors create their own goods. There are no resellers or direct sale vendors at this event.”
Shoppers can now enjoy a full weekend experience, as this year’s market will take place on Saturday and Sunday, a shift from previous years’ Friday and Saturday format. “Our goal is to enhance community accessibility to the event and boost sales for our participating businesses,” said Puleo. Shoppers are also encouraged to explore the local eateries in Downtown Potsdam, in addition to enjoying the offerings from Maxcy Hall's Concession Stand, which will be open throughout the market.
Admission to the market is $5 cash. Ages 12 and younger get in free.
The last hour of admission, on Sunday, December 8th, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. will be free.
A complimentary shuttle will be available from parking lots surrounding Maxcy Hall at SUNY Potsdam.
The Chamber is actively seeking volunteers to help behind the scenes and is also seeking sponsors to help support event programming. To become a sponsor or to volunteer, call the STLC Chamber office at 315-386-4000.
