GOUVERNEUR — Frary Funeral Home & Cremation Services has purchased Green Funeral Home, 33 Park St.

Both businesses have deep-rooted histories as multi-generational family businesses, committed to serving the community.

“Under the dedicated leadership of Wesley McGill, a former funeral director of Green Funeral Home and a current director at Frary's since October 2021, this new chapter brings not only continuity but also exciting, innovative changes aimed at enhancing the personalized experience we provide to the families we serve,”according to a press release from Frary Funeral Home.

Wes, born in Gouverneur and raised in Edwards, graduated from Edwards-Knox Central School before moving back to Gouverneur after high school.

He began working at a local funeral home while attending SUNY Canton for mortuary science, where he developed a deep passion for helping families through some of their most difficult moments.

“With Wes's guidance, Frary Funeral Home looks forward to continuing its tradition of excellence while offering fresh, thoughtful solutions to meet the evolving needs of our community,” the release said.

Additionally, Austin Heatherly, a current mortuary science student who resides in Gouverneur with his wife, will assist Wes with funerals and various tasks.

Any individuals who have pre-funded their funeral arrangements with Green Funeral Home will have their plans honored and remain in place under our care.

“We are committed to serving Gouverneur and the surrounding area with care and compassion, just as both Frary Funeral Home and Green Funeral Home have for generations,” the release said.
