To the Editor:
In November, Sue Bellor will be seeking re-election as the Supervisor for the Town of Massena.
I have known Sue for many years and had the privilege of serving as a Town Board member for the first two years of her administration. Her extensive background as both an educator and as a member of numerous local, county, state and national boards enable her to see “the big picture” when addressing local issues; she listens to all sides and asks questions, taking extensive notes to help her form plans. She continues to educate herself in government affairs through programs with New York State and the Association of Towns.
Sue is professional in her conversations and in her written correspondence, always clearly stating the factual information to be dealt with and offering solutions for the best outcome. She networks with other professionals across the state and easily calls upon them for information and advice on common issues.
The Town of Massena has faced many difficulties over the years and will continue to encounter even more in the future. Much like every citizen, not only in Massena but all of the country, the Town has experienced significant cost increases across the board; the main source of income to pay these costs is the taxpayer. Sue has been diligent in budget management for the Town, identifying the “wants” versus the “needs”. She recognizes that the taxpayers cannot afford to have their hard-earned money funding things that do not benefit a majority of the homeowners. On the income side, Sue has been actively involved in working with the Development Authority of the North Country and the County Chamber of Commerce to recruit new businesses for our area; she knows that we need companies that can provide well-paying jobs for more than a few people.
I fully support Sue Bellor as she seeks a second term as the Supervisor for the Town of Massena and encourage the residents of the Town to do the same.
