DEKALB — A 73-year-old DeKalb driver told St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies he could not see the Amish buggy he struck with his vehicle Thursday, July 11.
Several people were injured during the incident, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies responded to the incident on County Route 17 on Thursday at about 1:33 p.m.
Harold Jenkins, 73, of DeKalb was driving on the road when he failed to see the Amish buggy traveling in the same direction, the sheriff’s office said.
Jenkins’ vehicle struck the rear of the buggy which was being driven by Samuel Shetler, 43, also of DeKalb.
Shetler and the occupants of the buggy were transported by rescue services to the Canton-Potsdam Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The sheriff’s office said the incident is under investigation.
