MASSENA - Our Mother, Charlotte Katherine (LaDue) Guilbert born July 1, 1942 in Massena, New York passed from this life on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
She was blessed with 4 children, Jeffrey (and wife Joy), Kimberly (and husband John), Kathryn (and husband Ray) and Julie (and Fiancée’ David); 7 grandchildren (Jessica, Lauren, Katie, Kimberly, Cody, Jack and Samuel) and 4 great-grandchildren (Meredeth, Justis, Kingston and Kennedi). She is survived by 3 of her 4 younger sisters; Katherine LaDue of Madrid, New York, Jean VanHorn of Broussard, Louisiana and Brenda Despaw, of Norwood, New York. She was preceded in death by her mother Mildred Lucy (Davis) LaDue Lavine, Father, Alexander Felix LaDue and sister, Shirley Martinelli.
Charlotte’s many interests included music, dancing, sewing, shoes, reading thousands of books, collecting jewelry and watching Law & Order (all versions!).
However, her main interest and what she was most proud of... were her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She never, ever missed a moment to brag about how great they are all, and how proud she was to be their Mother, Grandmother or Great-Grandmother.
She will be missed, but we’re confident she’s dancing (in new shoes), listening to Elvis, reading novels, buying baubles, and watching Law & Order in Heaven, with a fresh batch of M&M’s and gumdrops close at hand.
Our family would like to express our deep gratitude to the wonderful staffs at Atria and Acclaim (especially Ginny) along the way, and Ruth and Aries and the wonderful care she received at their home in Virginia Beach. Special thanks to Dr. Sharon Sadr, Lilly-Like-the-Flower, Faye and the rest of the great staff at Norfolk Internal Medicine. Special thanks also to Dr. Beryl Brown of Coastal Surgical Specialist. The nursing and hospice care staff at Virginia Beach General are second-to-none; they are true professionals and their love and dedication to their craft shows in everything they do.
A brief celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held at 1 PM Thursday August 28, 2025 at Graham Funeral Home in Chesapeake Virginia.
Donations to honor our Mother’s memory should be made to H.E.R. Shelter, PO Box 2187, Portsmouth Virginia, 23702 (757-485-1445), or www.hershelter.com.
