CANTON – The 29th edition of Canton Winterfest will feature 10 days of both indoor and outdoor events, many geared toward family participation.
Sponsored by the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, Canton Winterfest will run from Feb. 7-16.
“The mid-winter celebration aims to bring the residents, businesses, and organizations of Canton and St. Lawrence County together to celebrate community and the season and will include deals by local businesses to celebrate the festival and local shoppers, buttons, a prize raffle, and numerous events,” said Ben Dixon, Executive Director of the Chamber.
Events already on the schedule include a Valentine’s Day and Comedy Event at the Best Western University Inn, the Nature Up North Cardboard sled races, Trivia Night at St. Mary’s Church, an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at the Canton United Methodist Church, Little River Winterfest, open skating, and 21 sports games at St. Lawrence University and SUNY Canton.
Many more events will be added to the festival over the coming week, Dixon noted.
“An event we are also excited for is the Business After Hours we are co-hosting at 11 West on February 11. This tremendously popular new establishment is a great place for the business leaders of Canton and all of St. Lawrence County to come together, network, and celebrate each other,” stated Dixon. “We look forward to sharing the highlights of impactful programming in Canton in our first official year as an Integrated Chamber of Commerce and our even greater goals for the year ahead. We want to thank 11 West for co-hosting what we know will be a fun-filled evening.”
11 West will be providing appetizers and there will be a cash bar. The Business After Hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. and those wishing to attend are requested to register at www.SLCChamber.org.
Businesses and organizations of Canton are encouraged to be part of Winterfest by hosting events, selling Winterfest buttons and raffle tickets, offering festival-themed business deals to engage with customers, providing raffle prizes, or sponsoring the festival.
“These are all great ways to connect with customers and promote your business, while celebrating your place in the community,” said Dixon. “A big goal for us with Winterfest is to promote commerce and support for our local businesses.”
Business and organization representatives can sign up for these opportunities through the online form, which resides on the Winterfest event at www.SLCChamber.organd the Chamber's event calendar, or by calling the Chamber at 315-386-4000.
A new Winterfest design has been developed by Kaydence L. at Hugh Williams High School. The design is featured on this year’s Winterfest commemorative buttons, which will be available with raffle tickets, for purchase at participating businesses and at the Chamber Visitor Center at 101 Main Street.
"We are so excited for Canton Winterfest,” Dixon remarked. “The Chamber of Commerce appreciates how the businesses, organizations, and residents of Canton and St. Lawrence County come together to celebrate a wonderful community during the beauty of the North Country winter season.”
