CANTON— The Canton Village Tree Committee will celebrate Arbor Day with a special spring planting event on Thursday, May 15, at 3 p.m. The event will take place on the Canton High School traffic circle, near the Superintendent’s Office, and will proceed rain or shine.
The featured activity is the planting of a replacement tree, part of the committee’s ongoing efforts to enhance and preserve the community’s natural beauty. As part of the event, organizers will demonstrate the proper techniques for planting and caring for a young tree.
The initiative is supported by the Canton Central Green Team, a student group composed of 5th through 8th graders who focus on environmental stewardship. The Green Team has committed to caring for the new tree and ensuring its continued growth and protection.
“Hopefully, all those that help to plant will be able to bring their grandchildren back to Canton to continue watching this tree grow,” a statement from the committee said.
