Banned books display

POTSDAM -- A large display of banned books and educational materials about banned books as well as giveaways of bookmarks, buttons and posters will be presented Saturday, June 21, from 3-8 p.m. at the Juneteeth Celebration in Ives Park. The event is sponsored by members of the First Presbyterian Church of Potsdam NY and Zinn Education Project, with the National Education Association. The display is being presented to "publicly defend teachers’ right to teach and students’ right to an honest, comprehensive, and inclusive K-12 education, and raise awareness about the dangers of censorship and legislation that restrict teaching on topics like racism, sexism, climate change, LGBTQI rights, and histories of communities."
