Arnold B. Fountain, 88, Russell

RUSSELL - Arnold B. Fountain, 88, of County Route 24, Russell sadly died as a result of a house fire on Monday, November 4, 2024.

A graveside service will be held for family and close friends in the Hermon Cemetery on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Canton has been entrusted with Arnold’s care and arrangements.

Arnold was born October 12, 1936 in the Town of Pierrepont and was a son of the late Basil and Elsie (Curtis) Fountain.

He enlisted in the US Army on April 21, 1954 serving during the post Korean Conflict time. He was honorably discharged April 19, 1957.

On July 19, 1958 he married Emma R. Loop in the First Methodist Church Parsonage in Potsdam. The couple were married 67 years and raised three boys: Ronnie, Greg and Mike.

Arnold was a member of Teamsters #687 where he was involved in numerous construction jobs including the Seaway and Niagara Falls work site. He then became an owner/operator driving tractor-trailer and most recently he was a cattle dealer.

He is survived by his wife Emma; son Mike and wife Kelly; four grandchildren Jennifer Fountain and companion Chris Holmes, Nicole Fountain and companion Sumner Pierce, Christine Fountain and Kyle Fountain. He is also survived by two great-grandsons Sylas Pierce and Archer Holmes as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sons Greg (1978) and Ronnie (2011) as well as a nephew who was much like a son Dean Fountain (2015).
