MASSENA — Dreams really do come true. Just ask the surprised Massena Public Library patrons and staff who received 12 new computers and monitors recently.
“The new computers were very necessary but an unexpected gift. We can’t thank the anonymous donor enough,” said Massena Library Director Krista Briggs.
“It was unsolicited. It blows my mind that someone saw this need and wanted to address it,” said Briggs.
The former computers were over a decade old and very slow to do even the simplest tasks, said staff.
“The new computers are faster, especially for the patrons. All the updates are new. We were no longer able to update the old computers. The computers are working way better,” said Assistant Director Heather Sarsfield,
Ben LaValley, of Northern Computers and Technology, called the library director to say an anonymous donor wanted to buy new computers for the library and wanted to know how many were needed for both the patrons and the offices.
“It was a double donation because Ben LaValley also volunteered his own time to install the 12 new computers,” said Sarsfield.
Among the library patrons enjoying the new computers recently was Tiffany Coates, who said she liked the faster speed and bigger monitor.
“The new computers help the whole community. People need computers for recreation, education and professional needs,” said Briggs.
“We don’t know who to thank, but we we want to give thanks out to the universe,” she said.
