COLTON – The 2025 edition of Ride to Breathe to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will feature many similarities despite having new event coordinators.
For the past 20 years, Jennifer Dean has led the charge, raising thousands of dollars to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
“Last year, Christina Latta and her husband Glenn stepped up to take over the ride,” stated Dean. “Christina’s brother has Cystic Fibrosis so there is a connection. Christina and Glenn will keep the ride in memory of Bethany, so the memory of my daughter will still continue.”
The Lattas hail from the Gouverneur area. Bethany Dean died in 2006 from Cystic Fibrosis.
This year’s poker run will take place June 1, starting and finishing at the Colton Amvets Post. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. with stands up at 11 a.m.
Registration fees are $w20 per single rider, $30 per double, $15 for dinner only, and $15 for an extra T-shirt.
Christina is a 19-year registered nurse and her brother, 36, is living with Cystic Fibrosis.
“My husband and I have attended the Ride to Breathe event for the last 10 years. We are passionate about the cause to advance research and someday find a cure for CF,” said Christina who expressed her appreciation for the annual event.
“Advancements in treatment have directly impacted my brother by prolonging his life and improving his quality of life. We are so grateful for the work that Jennifer Dean and many others have done to secure funding to make this possible,” she said.
Proceeds benefit the research and therapeutic development programs of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Questions can still be directed to Dean at (315) 854-0745 or by email at jdean9@twcny.rr.com.
“Maybe with the Latta family helping out I can still sit in the background and be somewhat involved. My heart is tugging on me. It is something very special that I have created and I’m excited the legacy will continue,” commented Dean.
