St. Lawrence River – The shores of the St. Lawrence River will once again come alive with excitement and friendly competition as the 22nd Annual St. Lawrence International Jr. Carp Tournament returns July 31 – August 2, 2025.

Organizers are proud to announce this year’s Grand Marshals: Olivia Caldwell of Chase Mills and Devin Green of Potsdam. Both anglers joined the Jr. Carp Tournament family at just 11 years old and competed every year through 2024. Now, as they age out of the competition, they return in new roles — ready to mentor and inspire the next generation of young anglers.

“It’s sad to see them age out of the tournament,” said event organizer Jo Ann Roberts, “but it’s exciting to invite them back to share their expertise and enthusiasm with this year’s participants.”

Both Olivia and Devin have a deep-rooted love for fishing, hunting, and the outdoors, each recalling, “I’ve fished since I could walk.” Carp, they both agree, remains their favorite catch.

“Both have been very successful in the tournament, with many parallels in their journeys,” added co-organizer Abby McNamara. “Devin has earned multiple individual and team awards, while Olivia has taken home several individual honors. They've each been nominated for — and received — the tournament’s Sportsmanship Award multiple times.”

When asked for advice to share with new and returning competitors, Olivia encouraged, “Pay attention and listen to the experienced anglers,” while Devin offered, “Don’t get discouraged, and just have fun. It’s not all about winning.”

McNamara, who has co-organized the event for several years, expressed enthusiasm about their new roles: “We are thrilled to have Olivia and Devin as our Grand Marshals. They’ve always been willing to help younger kids and first-time participants. This year, they’ll be visiting each fishing location to connect with everyone.”

Launched in 2003 by the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, the Jr. Carp Tournament is now proudly hosted by the Carp Anglers Group, a national organization whose members volunteer their time and expertise to support the event.

The tournament invites families and outdoor enthusiasts to join the fun, whether as participants, spectators, or volunteers. Fishing equipment and sponsorships are limited but still available, and seasoned anglers are on hand to teach the ropes.

Youth ages 11–18 are eligible to participate in the main tournament, while a shortened version for kids ages 8–10, introduced in 2024 and sponsored by the Sixth Annual Alex Memorial Ride, offers a great starting experience. The registration deadline is Friday, July 25.
