I want to know why it has become acceptable for local emergency service agencies, police, fire, and rescue, to escort victorious sports teams back into our communities. Yesterday, I witnessed four rescue vehicles and one police vehicle escorting the Clarkson women’s hockey team. Yes, it is a nice accomplishment for these young women and the team, congratulations to them. However, I also listen daily to the emergency calls in this county. Now, I understand the demands now placed on our emergency services. I don't believe they should be using their time and resources in this escorting of sports teams. I don't wish to bring attention only to the Potsdam department, as I have seen this occur in other communities as well over the past few years. I believe, in the future, the leadership of these departments should think more carefully before they become involved in such a questionable activity.
