RAYMONDVILLE -- Mary Ellen M. Bogdovitz, age 80, of Route 56 Raymondville, NY, passed away with her family by her side Thursday morning (February 7, 2019) at UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT.
Calling hours for Mary Ellen will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday (February 11, 2019) at St. Raymond Church, in Raymondville, NY until time of Mass at 12:00 P.M. with Rev. Andrew J. Amyot celebrating the Funeral Mass, along with Rev. Gary Giroux co-celebrating. Burial to be held at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery, Massena, NY at a later date.
Mary Ellen is survived by her loving and devoted husband of nearly 60 years, Walter J. Bogdovitz. Her memories are left behind to be cherished by her daughter, Cynthia and husband Charlie Moore of Dallas, TX, son Patrick J. and wife Christine Bogdovitz of Monument, CO, and daughter Mary Elizabeth Bogdovitz of Dallas, TX. Also surviving Mary Ellen are her 7 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her children Edward J. and Michael W. Bogdovitz, and a sister Kathleen Fitzgerald.
Mary Ellen was born to the late Edward F. and Helen Miney early on June 2, 1938 in Watervliet, NY. She graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy, NY in 1956 and soon after began her studies as a nurse in Troy, NY. Shortly after Mary Ellen started work for the Public Service Commission in Albany, NY.
She and Walter Bogdovitz were married at St. Patrick's Church in Watervliet, NY on September 5, 1959. They relocated to the Niagara Falls area and started their family. Mary Ellen had a wonderful spirit of adventure. She and Walter took their young family to the jungles of Thailand and Venezuela and all over the U.S. for Walter’s engineering work. Mary Ellen made a happy home at every stop. With her Irish eyes and beautiful smile, she built lifelong friendships which she always treasured.
She enjoyed all kinds of social events with her family and friends. A spirited golfer, Mary Ellen played in ladies golf leagues at Massena Country Club and at the Rockport Country Club when she wintered with her husband in Rockport, TX. She was an avid Yankees fan. Mary Ellen had a beautiful, strong Catholic faith and was a parishioner of St. Raymond Church in Raymondville and Sacred Heart Church in Rockport, TX.
