Memorial services for Leona J. Graves, 60, of Waddington will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Waddington. There will be no calling hours. Leona passed away on May 2, 2011 at her home in Waddington. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
She is survived by her husband Edmund Graves Sr.; her mother, Dorothy White of Madrid; two daughters, Ronda and husband Jason Murphy of NC and Dorothy and husband Lloyd Grandy II of Waddington; three step daughters, Tammy and husband Steve Ammeter of WI, Venitta and husband Bruce Parrott of WI and Mindy and husband Bob McMillan of Massena; a stepson, Edmund Graves Jr. of Syracuse; three grandchildren, Addison, Olivia and Phebe Grandy of Waddington; seven step grandchildren; and three sisters, Ramona and Delbert Anson of Madrid, Joan and Herbert Champion of Madrid, and Lillie and Dennis Barr of Canton.
She was predeceased by a son, George Henry Olinger.
Leona was born on March 6, 1951 in Potsdam, the daughter of Leon and Dorothy (Proper) White. Leona married Ronald Olinger in 1970, he passed away in 1998. She married Edmund R. Graves Sr. on February 12, 2000 in Waddington. She was employed as a waitress and short order cook at Connies Restaurant in Canton, then at Ames Dept. Store in Canton. At one time she worked at WIC Clinic in Canton in clerical, and later for Med Link Home Health Aid in Potsdam.
Leona enjoyed spending time with her family, 4 wheeling, reading and cooking. Leona also enjoyed camping, fishing and knitting.
