Irene W. Power, 97, Louisville

LOUISVILLE --Irene W. Power, age 97, of State Highway 131, passed away on Saturday afternoon February 16, 2019 at St. Regis Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. As per the family’s request, there will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday February 21, 2019 at St. Lawrence Church in Louisville, NY. Interment will be held in Louisville Community Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Irene was born on September 28, 1921 in Brasher, NY the daughter of the late Frank and Mabel (LaRue) White. She married Ivan M. Power on October 16, 1944 at Sacred Heart Church Rectory. Mr. Power predeceased her on June 24, 2000. Irene was employed at ALCOA as a payroll secretary from 1939-1944. She was a member of St. Lawrence Rosary-Altar Society, lifelong member of Massena Grange and communicant of St. Lawrence Church, Louisville.

Irene enjoyed time spent in her garden and bird watching. She was an accomplished cook and baker, and enjoyed sharing with friends and family alike. Irene was truly devoted to her family and enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Irene is survived by her children, Carol Ann (Jerry) Sharp of Colton, David F. and (Debbie Snell) Power, Philip I. (Linda) Power, and Michael J. (Mardie LePage) Power all of Louisville. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister Marie Greene, of Massena; a sister-in-law R. Carroll White, of Massena; along with several nieces and nephews.

Irene was predeceased by her seven brothers and two sisters and a daughter, Nancy Marie, in infancy.
