POTSDAM -- Mr. Boris Michael Loushin, age 84, passed away on January 7, 2019, at the United Helpers Maplewood Campus in Canton.
Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Home on Thursday, January 10 from 2-4 p.m.
There will be no funeral service.
Boris will be buried in St. Petersburg, Russia at a later date.
Contributions in his memory can be made to the United Helpers Maplewood Nursing Home at 205 State St. Canton, NY 13617.
Boris is survived by his wife, Eugenia Tsarov of Potsdam, NY; sons, Victor (Irina Godiana) Loushin of NY, NY and Alexandr (Yelena) Loushin of St. Petersburg, Russia; a stepson, Kirill (Joy Wrigley) Goldstein of NY, NY and a sister, Olga Alexecva of St. Petersburg, Russia.
Mr. Boris Loushin was born May 13, 1934 in St. Petersburg, Russia (formally Leningrad) to the late Michael Loushin and Nadeyhda Yemelyanova.
He graduated high school in St. Petersburg, Russia.
He then graduated from Medical Institution in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Boris followed the path of his parents and he was main eye surgeon at the eye hospital in St. Petersburg. All the while he was studying at the Leningrad State of Conservatory at night.
Boris chose to become a professional singer instead. He stayed and studied and then taught at the Conservatory for over 25 years receiving his Aspirantura (Doctorate of Music).
He was also selected to study for a year in Milan, Italy.
Boris moved to the United States in 1991.
On April 21, 1990 he was married to Eugenia Tsarov.
He taught privately in New York City for 3 years prior to moving to Potsdam, NY where he taught at the Potsdam Crane School of Music for over 20 years.
