WADDINGTON -- Bonnie J. Bashaw-Strome, 73, of Waddington, NY passed away at her home Sunday evening, September 29, 2019.
Bonnie was born May 16, 1946 to the late Lloyd and Areta Fisher Bashaw. She attended Madrid-Waddington Central School, graduating in 1963. After graduation she attended CCBI in Syracuse, before working for over two decades at the Covell Insurance Agency of Potsdam. She dedicated the final decades of her career to her most fulfilling task – drug and alcohol counseling with the young people of Northern New York. She returned to college and graduated from Mater Dei College in 1989, and went on to work as a primary counselor at Rose Hill in Massena. Bonnie’s quick laugh and positive mentorship made her a very successful guide for young people at risk.
Bonnie was predeceased by her husband John Strome, a sister Patricia Young, and brother Michael F. Bashaw, Sr.
Bonnie is survived by her nieces and nephews; Janice Green, Jeff (Terri) Young, Jackie (Everett) Scanlon, Michael (Lynn) Bashaw, Molly Bashaw, Timothy Bashaw, Amy (Michael) Wang, and her cat Ellie.

A memorial celebration will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, in Waddington on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 4 p.m., with a burial service to follow in Brookside Cemetery, Waddington.
