Winter weather advisory in effect for St. Lawrence County as snowstorm incoming

The National Weather Service has St. Lawrence County under a winter weather advisory through Thursday as they predict up to five inches of snow tonight and up to another four on Thursday are on the way.

"A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving," the weather service wrote in their warning.

Meteorologists predict 3 to 5 inches of snow in some areas Wednesday night with temperatures in the high teens.

Thursday, NWS forecasts another 2 to 4 inches with highs around 19 degrees.

They predict things will taper off at night, with less than a half inch of snow predicted, but with temperatures plummeting to -5 degrees.

Friday and Saturday are predicted to have respective highs around 8 and 12 degrees, and lows at -4 and -6, respectively.

The detailed forecast for St. Lawrence County:

Wednesday night - Snow showers. Low around 17. Northwest wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Thursday - Snow showers, mainly before 1pm. Temperature falling to around 12 by 5pm. Wind chill values as low as -3. West wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Thursday night - A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around -5. Wind chill values as low as -16. West wind 9 to 13 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday - Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 8. West wind around 9 mph.

Friday night - Partly cloudy, with a low around -4. West wind 3 to 6 mph.

Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 12. Light west wind.

Saturday night - Partly cloudy, with a low around -6. Calm wind.

Sunday - Sunny, with a high near 12. Light northeast wind.

Sunday night - Mostly clear, with a low around -2. Calm wind.

Monday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 22. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Monday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 11. Southwest wind around 6 mph.

Tuesday - Mostly cloudy, with a high near 29. West wind around 7 mph.

Tuesday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 13. West wind around 7 mph.

Wednesday - A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 23. West wind around 7 mph.
