A winter storm warning is in effect for St. Lawrence County from 1 p.m. today through 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Snow accumulations could 3 to 5 inches or 7 to 11 inches in parts of the North Country, forecasters say. The heavy snowfall could lead to difficult travel for motorists during their evening commute tonight and morning commute Tuesday, the service says.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency and allow extra time if travel is necessary, NWS says.

Snow is likely today, mainly after 4 p.m., with a high temp of 29, the service says.

The overnight low will be 20, NWS says.

Snowfall should end around 9 a.m. Tuesday with a high around 25.
