Two new doctors begin practicing medicine at Canton-Potsdam Hospital

POTSDAM -- Two new doctors recently joined St. Lawrence Health System.

He is practicing with nurse practitioner Patricia Ellis and Dr. Alexandru Stoian in the cardiology suite at 49 Lawrence Avenue, Potsdam.

Radhakrishnan earned his medical degree from Trivandrum, Kerala, India and is certified with the American Boards of Cardiology, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Clinical Genetics, and Internal Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Wayne State University/Sinai Hospital, Detroit, Mich.; his fellowship in cardiology from Weill Cornell Medical Center-Brooklyn Hospital Center, New York City; and his fellowship and research in clinical Genetics at Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, Conn.

Radhakrishnan brings more than 28 years of combined training and experience in the field of cardiology, clinical genetics, and internal medicine. He sees patients for chest pain, shortness of breath, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, history of heart attack, or family history of cardiac disease. He also treats arthrosclerosis, cardiomyopathy (weak heart muscles), valve issues, poor blood flow, and frequent fainting, and offers cardiac diagnostic testing including nuclear cardiology, Holter/event monitoring, and echocardiography including transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE).

Obstetrician, gynecologist, and reproductive endocrinologist Dr. Mazin Abdullah has joined as Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s Department chair of obstetrics.

[img_assist|nid=234561|title=Abdullah|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=150|height=190]Abdullah earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean in Plymouth, Montserrat, British West Indies. Residency training at the Weill Cornell College of Medicine in Bronx included pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology where he served as the administrative chief resident. Abdullah is certified with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He completed a reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Ky.

After completing his training, Abdullah worked with Albany IVF (in vitro dertilization) and Pacific Reproductive Center where he performed fertility procedures and surgeries. In 2011, he co-established the American Reproductive Center offering genetic testing, IVF procedures, and laparoscopy and hysteroscopy procedures. Most recently, Abdullah was department chair of obstetrics and gynecology Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital in Suweidi, Saudi Arabia, where he was “instrumental” in the hospital’s obtaining Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, SLHS said.

Abdullah sees patients for family planning and childbirth, infertility, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), pelvic adhesions, fibroids, and numerous other women’s health needs.
