Two arrested after police find meth lab during raid in Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG – The Ogdensburg Police Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant at 1223 Mechanic St. and discovered an active ‘one-pot’ methamphetamine lab, according to Ogdensburg police.

Ogdensburg police and the St Lawrence County Drug Task Force executed the search warrant

Monday at 8:32 p.m. where they say materials and components used for the manufacture of methamphetamine were located.

[img_assist|nid=255432|title=Ashley|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=210|height=228]As a result of the material and items observed in the residence, the New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Response Team (CCSERT) responded to the scene, police said.

During the investigation and search, investigators recovered an active, “one pot” methamphetamine lab, as well as, components of those labs.

Michael L. Vernsey, 36, and Sarah L. Ashley, 40, were charged with second-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine and second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies, police said

Vernsey had been previously convicted of third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine in March of 2016. Both Vernsey and Ashley were held in city lock-up pending arraignment.

Also assisting on the scene were members of the Ogdensburg Fire Department.
