Troopers identify pilot who died in Colton plane crash Wednesday

COLTON – State police have identified a Canadian man who was killed in a plane crash Wednesday.

Eric Carrier, 35, of St. Gedeon DeBeauce, Quebec, was killed after his plane crashed near Windmill Road in Colton.

An investigation revealed a light twin-engine aircraft crashed in a heavily wooded area.

Carrier, the sole occupant and pilot was pronounced dead at the scene.

St. Lawrence County Coroner June Wood responded to the scene and authorized the removal of the body to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where an autopsy is scheduled for May 5.

The state police were assisted at the scene by the following agencies: Colton Fire Department, Pierrepont Fire Department, Hannawa Fire Department, St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.

Members of the FAA Flight Standards District Office in Albany, and members of the NTSB from Washington, D.C. will take over the investigation of the crash.
