OSWEGATCHIE -- The Red Cross is assisting three adults following a fire on Brown Falls Road Wednesday.

Volunteers from the North Country Chapter of the American Red Cross provided immediate emergency aid to three adults following the blaze.

The Red Cross provided financial assistance for necessities to three adults. Volunteers also offered emotional support and comfort kits containing personal care items. In the coming days, Red Cross staff and volunteers will remain available to help those affected by the fire as they navigate the road to recovery.

In 2016, the Red Cross responded to more than 400 home fires and other disasters in the 24-county Eastern New York Region. Red Cross staff and volunteers provided assistance, care and comfort to more than 2,000 local residents last year.

All Red Cross assistance is provided free of charge and made possible by the generosity of the public. To donate to Red Cross Disaster Relief and help people affected by disasters big and small, visit www.redcross.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
