Weak high pressure over the St. Lawrence Valley today will lead to mostly dry and quiet Independence Day weather conditions, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Sunny skies and a high near 86 is expected today, the service says. An overnight low of 61 is likely.
The rest of the weekend will also remain rather quiet with just a slight chance of some afternoon shower Sunday, forecasters say. The high Sunday is expected to be 84.
Looking ahead to next week, temperatures and humidity will be on the rise as highs will reach the upper 80s to low 90s, bringing with it potential heat advisory concerns, NWS says.
The forecast through Friday is as follows:

A slight chance of showers between 2pm and 3pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Partly cloudy, with a low around 62. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Monday
Sunny, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.
