CANTON -- The St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Teachers’ Association recently made a $500 contribution to the United Way of NNY to support a series of suicide presentation by Roger Breisch at area schools.

On hand for the donation, were, from left, Lee Scuggs, Mike O’Neill, John Michno and Lisa Ames.

Breisch, of Batavia, Ill., has spent 15 years and more than 3,000 hours counseling callers, including teenagers, on the Illinois state and national suicide hotlines and is a noted speaker on suicide prevention.

He spoke at Gouverneur and Massena high schools and St. Lawrence University on Tuesday, March 27. St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES live-streamed his talks to other area high schools.

The St. Lawrence Suicide Awareness Coalition delivered a presentation with Breisch.

Other sponsors of the events were the Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization, Northern Regional Center for Independent Living, ACR Health, the Victims Assistance Center of Jefferson County, Reachout of St. Lawrence County, St. Lawrence University, and the St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Teachers’ Association.
