St. Lawrence County multi-use trails are open for ATV users and will remain open through Sunday, September 15.
“Our volunteer trail crews have reviewed trails, cleared blown down trees, graded and trail-hardened areas where needed,” said St. Lawrence County Trail Coordinator Deb Christy. “As always, please respect the landowners who provide access to their lands and stay on the trails.”
County Legislator Tony Arquiett, D-Helena, "strongly encourages" all users of the multi-use trail system to follow all rules and regulations to "insure that we all can enjoy our outdoor activities for many, many years to come."
County Trail Committee officials remind all trail users to follow the rules when riding the trails:
• Stay on marked trail. Enter and exit the trail system only at trailheads or town connectors.
• Trail is open 6 a.m. until midnight unless special permission is granted.
• Obey all signs, gates and barriers.
• Always stop when signaled by a law enforcement or safety patrol officer.
• No camping or campfires are permitted.
• Respect the environment. Travel with minimum impact. Do not litter. Carry out what you carry in and leave nothing behind.
• Always carry personal identification.
• Watch the weather and dress appropriately.
• Adult supervision is required for those under 18.
• No alcohol may be consumed on the trail.
• Be prepared – carry a first aid kit, tools, spare equipment and a cell phone or two way radio.
