The St Lawrence County Multi-Use Trail and County snowmobile trails are still open and available for use by all users for the next month or more depending on snow conditions.
The St Lawrence County Multi-Use Trail Committee and the snowmobile clubs strongly encourage all users of both trail systems to continue following all rules and regulations.
When going out on the trails, be prepared for all situations, the committee said.
Stay on the designated trails. Straying off them could result in riders getting lost, which then makes it harder for first responders to locate them.
Have a working cell phone, if possible, but don’t rely on that phone.
Have a map of the area; ensure that other individuals know the planned itinerary, approximate time of arrival, etc.
Lastly, travel with a “buddy” or “buddies.” Remember, there is safety in numbers. Always be aware of the surroundings, and ride within each rider’s own capabilities.
ATV season is just a few months away, and now is the time to start preparing for the new season. More information on the up-coming ATV season will be released by the committee in the next couple of months.
ATV usage is prohibited on all designated trails till the official opening of those trails after mud season.
