St. Lawrence County to get $1.6 million to resurface 8 miles of Route 11 near Stockholm

St. Lawrence County is apparently in line to receive $1.6 million in state funding to resurface more than eight miles of Route 11 between the Route 11C intersection in Stockholm Center and the Route 11C intersection in Coteys Corners.

The funding is part of more than $100 million allocated to repave and enhance roads impacted by harsh weather this past winter, said a press release from the governor’s office.

The North Country as a whole is supposed to receive approximately $8 million in projects to pave 73 miles in Lewis, Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton, Essex and Hamilton counties, the press release said.

The total statewide funding package will support 84 projects and the renewal of nearly 1,000 lane miles of pavement across the state, the press release said. The money, awarded through the state’s Harsh Winter Paving Initiative, is in addition to nearly $300 million previously committed for projects that repave approximately 1,600 lane miles of road across New York State.

The projects are expected to take place throughout the summer and into fall, and will be completed this year, the governor’s office said.
