The St. Lawrence County Conservative Party is endorsing Robert Smullen of Meco, Fulton County, for the 118th Assembly District.

The district includes Madrid, Norfolk, Stockholm, Piercefield, Pierrepont, Clare, Colton, Clifton and Fine. It extends south into Hamilton, Herkimer and Fulton counties, plus part of Oneida County.

“I am truly humbled and privileged to receive the support of the hardworking conservative activists of the Saint Lawrence County Conservative Committee,” Smullen said in a prepared statement. “Their confidence and backing to be their standard bearer in our district is a duty I will work to uphold throughout the campaign and as our next Assemblymember.”

“Colonel Smullen’s dedication to our nation and his service to the people of New York exemplify what our elected officials should strive for,” Henry ‘Hank’ Ford, chairman of the SLC Conservatives, said in a news release. “With so much corruption in Albany and New York City, Colonel Smullen is exactly the no-nonsense conservative leader that we can trust to get the job done in our State Assembly. We are honored to have Colonel Smullen as our choice for the 118th Assembly District.”

Robert Smullen is a three-tour, 24-year veteran of the United States Marines. He is a retired colonel. A news release from his campaign says he “is running for New York State Assembly to lower taxes, lessen regulations and to create more liberty.”
