Barb Spadaccini, St. Lawrence County Cancer Fund committee member, presents Bob Wolleben, Chief Executive Officer and Tina Corcoran, Senior Director Public Relations/Planning with this year’s grant of $10,000.
MASSENA -- The St. Lawrence County Cancer Fund recently awarded Massena Memorial Hospital a $10,000 grant to continue to offer the free community monthly skin screenings and educational community programs.
The St. Lawrence County Cancer Fund raises money annually through the Edward I Moses Walk/Run for Life. Through the grant, it has enabled the hospital to bring additional education and screenings on behalf of the proceeds.
“Massena Memorial Hospital has been committed for many years to bring health and medical education to the community,” said Tina Corcoran, senior director, public relations/planning. “We have done this through community seminars, screenings and campaign awareness through both advertising and formal news releases. Such as the Skin Screenings and seminars on Prostate Health and Bladder Cancer, and crediting the Edward I Moses Walk/Run for Life grant as the sponsor.”
For 2016, MMH will continue offering the free skin screening along with community educational programs to such as colorectal cancer, melanoma skin cancer detection and prevention, men’s health/prostate cancer, women’s health, ovarian, uterine and breast cancer, COPD and lung disease.
