MASSENA -- Special education teacher Marcie Goodrow of Massena’s Jefferson Elementary School has been honored with an Empire State Excellence in Teaching Award.
“We were all very excited to learn that Dr. Marie Goodrow from Jefferson Elementary School was recognized with the Empire State Excellence in Teaching Award,” said Massena Central School Superintendent Pat Brady.
“Dr. Goodrow is an exceptional special education teacher who has made a significant impact on the lives of her students,” Brady said. “She is a great advocate for their needs and an excellent resource for other teachers and administrators in the field.”
The state Excellence in Teaching awards were made this week to teachers around the state also including one in Ogdensburg and one at Norwood-Norfolk.
“The fact that she was nominated for the award by a parent of one of her students is surely satisfying to Marcie as it is to the District.” Brady said. “It validates the work she is doing to support our students who have very significant life challenges.
“I am very proud of Marcie and appreciate the Governor’s office for recognizing her with this prestigious distinction,” Brady said.
