Snow expected to continue in St. Lawrence County through this afternoon

Light to moderate snow will continue to expand in areal coverage across St. Lawrence County today and then exit the area from northwest to southeast tonight, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Total snow accumulations are expected to be 1 to 2 inches below 1000 feet, 2 to 5 inches up to 2000 feet and around 6 inches at the highest summits of Northern New York.

Potential impacts from this event include difficult travel conditions due to snow on roads and wet roads becoming icy as temperatures fall into the 20s overnight.

Snow showers will likely taper off around 2 p.m. with a high temp around 37, the service says.

There is a slight chance of snow overnight, with minimal accumulations expected, NWS says.

The forecast through Wednesday is as follows:

Friday

A chance of snow showers between 10am and 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. Northwest wind 8 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Friday Night

Partly cloudy, with a low around 19. West wind 5 to 8 mph becoming southwest after midnight.

Saturday

Partly sunny, with a high near 36. Southeast wind 7 to 17 mph becoming southwest in the morning.

Saturday Night

A 30 percent chance of snow showers after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Southwest wind around 11 mph.

Sunday

A chance of snow showers before 9am, then a chance of rain showers. Cloudy, with a high near 44. Southwest wind 10 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Sunday Night

Rain likely before 2am, then rain and snow likely between 2am and 3am, then snow likely after 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 24. Southwest wind 7 to 11 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
