Sleet, snow and freezing rain expected in St. Lawrence County, winter storm warning issued

Snow, sleet and freezing rain are expected across St. Lawrence County tonight.

A winter storm warming takes effect at 4 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service.

A mix of snow and ice will be accompanied by 3 to 5 inches of snow accumulations.

Poor travel conditions are expected as freezing rain is likely.

The warning will be lifted at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Things are expected to warm up Sunday with a high of 44 degrees predicted, but the warm weather wont last long. Temperatures will drop drastically next week, with a low of 2 degrees expected Monday night.

This Afternoon: Snow likely, mainly after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 27. East wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Tonight: Snow and sleet before 1am, then rain and sleet between 1am and 2am, then rain after 2am. Temperature rising to around 36 by 5am. East wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Sunday: Rain, mainly before noon, then a chance of drizzle. High near 44. Breezy, with a southeast wind 6 to 11 mph becoming southwest 18 to 23 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 46 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers before 11pm, then a chance of snow showers between 11pm and 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 9. Wind chill values as low as -1. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
