POTSDAM -- The rainbow Pride Flag will be flown above the town offices here the first week in June.
"The Town of Potsdam will be proudly flying the Rainbow Flag from June 1-June 8 as a gesture of support and affirmation to our LGBTQ+ neighbors," said Potsdam Town Supervisor Ann M. Carvill and the town board in an email to North Country This week.
"We fly the flag as a part of our mission to continue making Potsdam an even more welcoming community into the future. We fly the flag to remember those who have been lost or silenced by hate. Our town, our nation, and our world are better places because of our LGBTQ+ community members," the email said.
The village of Canton also plans to fly the rainbow flag in June in honor of National LGBTQIA Month.
June is also considered National Dairy Month, Men's Health Month, and National PTSD Awareness Month, among other designations.
