Rain may turn to snow this evening in parts of the North Country

While little or no snow accumulation is expected, the National Weather Service has posted hazardous weather alerts for parts of the North Country calling for the possibility for rain and snow showers this afternoon and tonight, mainly in the higher elevations in the south and southeast of St. Lawrence County.

Nighttime freezes are expected through the weekend, with temperatures in the mid to upper 20s, but cooler toward the mountains, possibly moderating early next week.

No serious precipitation events are expected through the weekend. The NWS says there is a slight chance of snow Saturday night.

Skies are expected to clear tonight and give us sunny days tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday.

Daytime high temperatures will be in the 40s, climbing into the 50s Tuesday and Wednesday, forecasters predict.

This Afternoon: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. North wind around 9 mph.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy during the early evening, with a chance of snow and rain showers in the Star Lake-Cranberry Lake area, then gradual clearing, with a low around 25. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 44. West wind between 3 and 9 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 25. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 47. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph.

Saturday Night: A slight chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 48.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 30.

Monday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48.

Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 52.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52.
