CANTON – Canton Trustee Klaus Proemm said the solar charging station project planned for the east side of Hodskin Street should see some progress around mid-February with the installation of a Level 2 charger.
The charger is considered a slow charging station, topping off an electric vehicle battery in a few hours.
A fast charger which can charge an EV battery in about 45 minutes is also planned for the site. Proemm said that equipment is expected to be installed around mid-March.
The village is receiving two rebates totaling $43,000 from National Grid and NYSERDA to offset the cost of installation of the charging stations.
The total cost to the village for the EV chargers will be around $160.
