Potsdam, Norwood municipal offices now open to the public

The Potsdam Town Hall and Norwood Village Hall are now open to the public with certain guidelines, and the Potsdam village offices were set to open to the public on June 1.

The Town of Potsdam has entered its Phase I re-opening, according to the town website.

Details are as follows:

• The public can contact the assessor, clerk, code officer and the supervisor via telephone, email, or by making an appointment to have an in-person meeting.

• Masks are required by those entering the town hall and well as by town officials who have set up meetings with the public.

• Social distancing is required.

• A plastic divider will separate town officials and the public.

• Extra face masks are currently available should one be needed by a visitor.

• All pre-scheduled meetings between town officials and members of the public will be held in the community room.

• Members of the public must enter via the rear door of the town hall.

• The drop box and the vestibule continue to be available to the public.

The state-mandated business re-opening phases includes Phase I, which allows construction, agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting, retail (limited to curbside or in-store pickup or drop off), manufacturing, and wholesale trade businesses to open.

Phase II, which the governor delayed from launching in the North Country region Friday, May 29, will authorize professional services, retail, administrative support, real estate/rental and leasing businesses to reopen.

The final two phases of reopening will include Phase III which includes restaurants and food services and Phase IV which includes arts, entertainment, recreation and education.

In an email to North Country This Week Friday, May 29 Norwood Town Clerk Nancy Berger said the Norwood village building would also open to the public.

Berger said the village will be requiring 6 feet of social distancing and that masks would be required of the public prior to entering the building.

No children or friends will be allowed in the village building.

A drop box is now located at the bottom of the stairs for the convenience of the residents, Berger said.

“The village taxes will go out Monday and we want to try to accommodate everyone safely,” the clerk writes.

Call 315-353-2372 to contact the Norwood clerk.

The village of Potsdam will open its offices to the public on June 1.

Members of the public will be required to wear a mask when inside the Civic Center. If they don’t have a mask, there will be extras provided for the public at the table near the building entrance.

Social distance of at least 6 feet between people inside the building is required.

Hand sanitizer will be located at all building entrances for the public as well.
