POTSDAM -- A 2014 Potsdam Central graduate has been selected for a Special Olympics softball team.
Curt Noble Walters was recently chosen to travel to Nashville, Tenn. to the National Invitation Softball Games.
“He had to try out, he was selected to play,” said his mother, Patti Walters. “He played softball up there with Special Olympics and this is the third year down here in Florida.”
Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition to children and adults 8 years of age and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“It is quite an honor, especially since he was not allowed to participate only in track & field during high school,” Mrs. Walters said.
The 16 athletes and four coaches are fundraising to cover travelling expenses.
Special Olympics offers 17 sports including powerlifting, cheerleading, flag football and swimming.
