Potsdam Candidate Profile: Larry Colbert says taxes and infrastructure are major concerns for the town

POTSDAM – Property taxes and infrastructure are Larry Colbert’s major concerns in his campaign for Town Council.

Colbert is an electrician, retired from Alcoa after 36 years, and still does related work. He served for a short time as code enforcement officer for the Village of Potsdam. He was a Norwood firefighter for 25 years, and served twice as president of Norwood Kiwanis.

He continues to feel that he would bring a conservative view to the council, “which I don’t think we have right now,” he said in his campaign last year.

This year he is saying that “the property owners in the town of Potsdam are concerned about the taxes they have to pay out each year, and I want to work to keep these taxes down as much as possible.

He believes voters “need to be concerned about our infrastructure, roads and bridges, as well as water and sewer lines. There is already one business looking to locate on Route 56, and hopefully we can attract more to our township.

“ I would encourage the construction of commercial solar arrays within the township,” he said.

“I hope to bring a conservative voice to the town board and to look to the future for our growth in a common sense way.

“I do not believe in kicking the can down the road. I will work for the best interests of the residents of the town.”
