WATERTOWN -- At their quarterly meeting Tuesday, the Northern New York Community Foundation Board of Directors approved grants totaling $168,133 to local organizations.
In St. Lawrence County, grant recipients were:
• Orchestra of Northern New York, based at SUNY Potsdam, $2,500 to fund a concert in Watertown in 2012.
• Literacy of Northern New York, Potsdam, $3,133 to provide tutor training equipment as part of a new initiative to improve effectiveness and efficiency. This grant is funded through the Herring College Memorial Trust.
