OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg Public Library is seeking $75,000 in funding through a proposed referendum on the upcoming Ogdensburg School District ballot.

New York State law allows public libraries to use their school district’s ballot to request funding from school district residents in the same way the school requests special funding, according to a news release from the Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce.

The referendum affects only those people living in the Ogdensburg City School District.

The approximate tax increase for 2019 would be $13 on a home assessed at $65,000 in the City of Ogdensburg and Oswegatchie. The increase would be $15.60 for Lisbon residents with a home assessed at $65,000, the chamber said.

The approximate total tax for three years of the $200,000 referendum would be $35 for Oswegatchie and Ogdensburg and $42 for Lisbon, the chamber said.

The vote is Tuesday from noon to 9 p.m. at Ogdensburg Free Academy.
