STOCKHOLM -- An Ogdensburg Police Department officer jailed on rape charges has been terminated from the force.
Joseph E. Pritty, 25, Potsdam, was charged with third-degree rape, felony, for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a female without her consent due to incapacity, officers said.
He was arraigned in Stockholm court and ordered held in St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $2,500 bail. He posted bail and is to appear in court at a later date to face the charge, officers said.
An order of protection was issued in favor of the alleged victim, deputies said.
Ogdensburg City Manager Sarah Purdy confirmed Tuesday that Pritty had been fired.
