OGDENSBURG - Ogdensburg City Council's special meeting was cancelled after some councilors and members of the public were unable to log in.

The online meeting was hosted using the GoToMeeting app, but the city's subscription could not handle the massive number people who tried to log in.

More than 160 people were in attendance as the city was set to consider cutting 12 jobs, including four police and four firefighter positions. Other proposed layoffs included two parks and recreation administrative positions, a code officer position and a code officer job.

Several law enforcement unions as well as the St. Lawrence County district attorney and sheriff issued letters in opposition to the cuts.

It's unknown at this time when the meeting will be held.

The meeting was cancelled as denying people access to the meeting would have been a violation of the open meetings law.
