North Country This Week
OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg Attorney Andrew Silver has resigned from his position with the city.
City Manager Sarah Purdy said his effective resignation date is Feb. 4. She declined to share his resignation letter citing attorney-client privilege, but said he is looking to specialize in other areas of his firm’s practice.
Purdy said she has advised councilors that they can appoint someone as an independent contractor, as was the case with Silver, or they can amend the hiring freeze and hire a part-time employee, which was the case with Silver’s predecessor.
Ogdensburg City Council will meet Monday Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.
According to the Silver and Collins firm's website, “Andrew is a North Country Native who was born and raised in Ogdensburg, New York. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy, Kent Preparatory School, St. Lawrence University and The University of Kentucky College of Law. After law school he was in private practice in Washington DC and later became an assistant district attorney in Rochester, New York. He returned to the North Country to practice law in 1998. He handles predominately estate planning, decedent’s estates, real estate, business, and municipal matters for the firm.”
